I checked every video store in two cities this week for a Blu-ray copy of ‘The Hangover’ and went home without spending my money. In the time I spent looking for a way to give you my $30 I could have downloaded the film and emailed it to say…. 12 friends. Get your shit together:

Pick a format you want us to embrace.

Get the product to stores.

Make it affordable.

Here’s a tip. I will pay $20+ for a Blu-ray for a film I really liked that has spectacular image quality. I will not pay more than $12 for a film on Blu-ray that uses soft focus, or hand held cameras. I will pay $20+ for a physical copy of a film but would not pay more than $10 for a downloaded version of the same film, regardless of quality.

Offer more programs like dvd2blu.com that allow us to standardize our collection. And please, for the love of every part of my consumer-minded soul – do not introduce another format – this will only strengthen the public’s slant towards piracy.
